Often the change that you want to bring about for others is precipitated by a change in yourself. It is hard to lead others where you have not yourself been - and if it is new territory for all of you, as a leader this territory is first taken by faith.

Allowing the Holy Spirit to change us before and as we lead others is a vulnerable posture for a leader. It can feel more secure to lead out of solid experience or certain conviction than out of daring or hope. Nevertheless, it is our inner experience of change and renewal that is most captivating for others - people follow because they respect and like what they see in a leader and often they will follow into places that have not been described at all because of trust, affection and faithfulness. We will look at two stories - Elisha and the Shunammite woman (2 Kings 4:8-37) and Saul in Paphos (Acts 13:1-13).
